They Fit!

This is Lyla modeling the crocs
her Daddy gave her for Christmas.
I'm so glad they fit!!

Isn't she so cute!

This is Lyla about 3 hours later
With her shoes off and her
hair bow gone.
I don't know how moms keep
their little girls hair cute all day.
*
Oh, and this is her new
favorite spot to sit.

I don't know if you remember the
last picture of Lyla in her
swimming suit, but it barely fit.
So this is her new suit.
*
I'm so glad
modest swim wear
is in style!

AND a new floatie,

how lucky can a gal be!

Today we had Carter's
Patriotic Program!
Here he is with some of
his good friends
(and his teacher in the background).
They did such a great job!
I've been singing,
"We're the Hope of America"
all day, even though thats
the only line I know.

Jason had a great

Father's Day weekend.
He was able to go golfing at
the Villa Elena golf course
in
Tegucigalpa.
This is him with his caddy, Sergio.

Jason shot 4 over
on the back 9
despite the crazy
narrow fairways.
*
Here is his Eagle Shot

On Sunday Jason visited

an orphanage in
Conejo.

He picked up one kid and flipped
him around and next thing
he knew they were all
lined up for their turn.

He had a great time.
What a good place to be
on Father's Day!

Greetings From Honduras

Jason sends greetings from Honduras!
{Here are just a few highlights of the past 2 weeks}
He's been to the pineapple fields,
picked a few and ate a few...

He was able to visit
a local school in La Paz...
{They're very good at making sure
the camera can see their cute little faces}
and he has helped unload supplies
from
more than one of these bad boys.

As for the 'chillins' and I...

We visited the school carnival.
I paid $7.00 for a wristband for Dallin
{all for a good cause}
and
these little swings and the jumping house
were the only rides
he thought were safe enough to try.
{all for a good cause}
He wasn't sure about the swings the first go around
but after it was over he decided it was fun.
So you'd better believe we stood in line a couple
more times.
Gotta get my $7.00 worth
{all for a good cause}

It was getting pretty cold,
Lyla was tired...
I was tired
{of standing in the swing line},
so to soften the blow of going home
I offered to buy them a snow cone

This last weekend we went camping
by Freemont Indian State Park.
Carter was terrified that we were going to
the mountains {ya know that's where all of the animals live}
and he warned me that we shouldn't go
but I didn't listen.
So we went and the boys had a great time
from the moment they got out of the car.
All day Friday they played in the water
.
They started by just going across the log,
then throwing rocks and leaves downstream,
then eventually they were wading back and forth.

Later we went to the
Freemont Indian State Park Museum.

We started by watching a short film.
When we sat down and the lights were off
Dallin leaned over to me and whispered,
"Is this when the Indian comes to get me."
Ah, poor guy was terrified, but after he watched
the movie and we went outside,
he realized that we weren't going to be
attacked by Indians.

Dallin even ventured underground

to see the "Pit House"

Carter seemed to relax too.
He was climbing and hiking all over
and being
"Mr. Adventurous"
which is not normally his middle name

Dallin and Carter even climbed down

into the granary where the Indians
would keep their "food supply" for the winter.

I'm pretty sure it was home to a few animals,
being a nice shelter in the
middle of the mountains and all,
but I kept my thoughts to myself

Lyla seemed to be content moving
from the stroller to the crib
back to the stroller, back to the crib.

There was ALWAYS someone to play with.

Then Saturday we took a drive to

Big Rock Candy Mountain
and checked out a few things

Then we took a picnic to
Cove Fort.
Lyla loved being able to
wander around on the grassy areas

I loved the tour and seeing how our pioneers live.
I think it would be so much fun to live back in those days
{for about a week, then I want my soft bed and shower back
oh yeah and then until I see Pa kill the chicken and Ma
plucking the feathers off and Sis putting it on the table for dinner}

The storm clouds were rolling in

and the wind was blowing like crazy.
So we took a quick picture on the wagon
and had to run back to the car for shelter.
We barely made it before the rain started.
{Carter's smile is a scared smile,
the thunder was loud and he was getting nervous;
like I said, Mr. Adventurous isn't his middle name}

Then finally Sunday before we headed home
We took one last hike to the
'100 Hands Cave'
{We only counted 31}

This was Lyla's first camping trip,
and she did great!
She was SOOOO exhausted while we were
packing up so I finally strapped
her in her car seat,
gave her her blankie and binki
and she was asleep within 5 minutes.
It was 10:30 am and not too hot,
so I left all of the car doors open
so it would be cool enough for her
while I finished packing up.
When we were on our way out
we ran into the ranger
who said their was a rattle snake in the grass
just next to my car that he "re-located."
Carter said,
"See mom, I told you
we shouldn't go to the mountains!"
So I explained to him that
the ranger's job
was to take all of the animals
that might harm people away
and put them higher on the mountain.
I saw a little light bulb click in his head.
When he talked to Jason that night,
the first thing he told him was
what the ranger's job actually was.
So I'm thinking from now on
he won't be so worried when we go
into the mountains.
{hopefully}
We were tired and exhausted
after playing so hard.

It was so nice to have a shower
and
be back in our own beds.
But I sure am missing Jason,
it was hard having him gone for Father's Day.
Luckily we thought ahead and celebrated
before he left.

I really wasn't worried
about him leaving for 3 weeks.
3 weeks is a cake walk after
having him gone for a year.
But I must say that it
has been a LONG 3 weeks.
The closer it gets to having
him home the longer
the days seem to be.
Saturday is just around the corner!

{Hope your weekend will be as exciting as mine!}

Looney Junee

Here we are the second week of June.
So far things have been un poco loco.
*
I dropped Jason off at the airport on Saturday.
He is now in the Honduras enjoying
the humid rainy season.
He is sleeping in a tent on a cot,
but he is on a big base with
good facilities, so for the most part
he's comfortable.
He seems to be enjoying speaking Spanish with the locals,
and he's been able to watch the NBA playoffs,
so he's doing just fine:)
*
Lyla had another ear infection
and wasn't sleeping or eating very well,
but we've gotten that under control
and now she's sleeping better than ever.
*
Our Wii broke, so we had to send it in to get fixed.
Luckily we have the game cube as a back up,
so the boys still have something to do
in this rainy weather
*
Yesterday we went to school and ate lunch with Carter
and
today we went back for his big debut in
Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
He's on the left side of the stage
middle one on the stairs in the red shirt.
(I would like to thank Dallin for taking this lovely picture
for me while I was chasing Lyla)

Carter did a great job in the play and when they
had to switch sides on the stage he would
pull the other kids into their proper spots.
I don't know if he was suppose to do that or
if he was just creating windows
so his face could
be seen by all.
On the way home from the play,
Dallin wanted to go in the back door.
(He likes to check on our flowers to see if there
are any new bloomers.)
Too my surprise some of them looked a little droopy.
I decided to pull the hose out
and give them some extra water.
I always do this very carefully
because one time I found a
BIG HAIRY BLACK SPIDER
living on my hose.
It was too fast for me to kill it
and I know its still living in there.
So I looked at the end of the hose and it looked fine,
I pulled it out very s...l...o...w...l...y
and looked what popped off onto the grass:

I picked it up by the shell and put it on the hose-hide-away
so that I could get a good looksie

After I stared at it a while it finally came to life
and started sliding and if you look close
you can see it left a gross slimy trail

After studying it for a long time,
Dallin watched me scoop it up with
his shovel and put it in the flower bed.
Pretty gross, but fascinating at the same time.
Now every time we go out to look at the flowers
we have something new to look for.
*
{Hope your week brings you
new and exciting things}
